Putting his Way to a Runner-up Finish!

May 24, 2010

Brian Gay, posting a low score of the day 63 with only 23 putts, vaulted himself to a runner up finish at the HP Byron Nelson Championship Sunday.

Playing with a Bettinardi BB8 putter, the same putter that has been in his bag for his last three victories since 2008, Gay carded a 72-68-69-63 – 272 tying Blake Adams and Jeff Overton for the second place spot.

My putting was absolutely the key to Sunday’s round, said Gay. I feel like I am starting to get that same feeling like I had last year with my two victories.

Gay finished the 2009 season ranked #4 in 2009 PGA Tour Putts Per Round with an average of 28.11 and recently posted his best position on the year-end 2009 money list (13th). Finishing among the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings, has earned him entry to all four majors in 2010 - the Masters, The U.S. Open, The Open Championship, and the PGA Championship based on his 2009 performance.
