WHIT MERRIFIELD, MLB Outfielder

Merrifield is a second baseman and outfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays. He graduated from Davie County HS in North Carolina and went on to play baseball for the University of South Carolina, where he was a part of the 2010 College World Series Championship team. He was drafted in the ninth round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Kansas City Royals.

In seven seasons with the Royals, Whit accumulated 1,001 hits in 863 games played. Leading the Major Leagues in hits back-to-back years, 2018 and 2019, while also leading the American League in steals in 2017, 2018, and 2021. A two-time All-Star during his time in Kansas City, Whit was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays at the 2022 MLB Trade Deadline.

In a Clubhouse Conversations interview with the KC Royals, Whit recalls just having finished a round and was walking off the 18th green when he got the call that he would make his MLB debut with the Royals the next day.
