Cool Clubs Robot Review of the New Bettinardi MB and CB Irons

Welcome back to Robot reviews today, Mark. We've got Bettinardi’s two new irons. Right. And the first time they've really come out with irons, they’ve done wedges and stuff. Totally machined and stuff. But this is a forged iron. pretty cool technology. There's, some tungsten in the toe, obviously, to move the CG, the center, and we've got some ceramic materials, which is been done a couple times, but not very often because it's expensive to do and difficult.

So, that basically hollows the middle out a little bit and makes it more forgiving. So look maybe a little feel component in there as well. Yeah. Probably. Yeah. Any time its a forged club its going to feel good to begin with. And the ceramic stuff certainly I've heard it makes a difference in feel. I'm not sure if I can tell the difference, but certainly it's the positive.

You know, they're they're really clean looking clubs. They're not tiny or real big. So they both look pretty good. Yeah. It's a good entry into the market for them. And they've been known for like awesome putters over the years, played by, you know, some of the guys I've known Bobby for probably or about for probably 30 years or so, way back when we just started out.

Yeah. Be interesting to see how these take off, but let's, let's jump into some numbers. So they've got MB and CB, both at 33 degree seven irons. So they're obviously intending them to be blended as a set. Yeah. But they certainly can be blended. And there's no problem there at all with how they look. Yeah for sure. And the offset and everything else kind of matches up.

So definitely could be blended. I think there’ll be a lot of blended sets for these. So we're still testing this on our old robot until we get the new one delivered. Right. And so we're going to share a little more data than we normally do because I'm going to share these actual numbers here. So you'll see the actual launch and spin and the the tour rating is really, really good on the CB.

That's our highest tour rating that we've had. Yeah, it's one of the higher ones. Yeah I mean there's they're kind of you know the 4.6. There's a bunch of four point sixes. And I'm not sure if this one's biased or not, but it's definitely pretty good. Yeah. and the stopping power. Good night. Good, good. Yeah. Anything above four is decent.

Yeah. And 337, spin launch. So for every degree of launch, there's 337 off. Yeah. Now that's a little bit stand out with these. You know, if we looked at we pulled up a couple other ones. We'll show on the screen here in a bit. But you know that's a lower spin on iron than most. So if you tend to be steep and you know, it's got a fairly substantial sole for a blade.

So, if you want to keep spin down, it's a really good one for that. Yeah. And I do like that about these. You see here that, you know, softer soles. Everything looks nice and rounded. Yeah. Nothing really. You know, I mean though even the, the contour on the sole itself is it's pretty rounded as well, which is nice.

And that kind of reduced the surface area across. So it's like good for guys who can pick it and guys that get into the ground a little bit, both a bit. so let's have a little look at the MB. Slightly, slightly different. The funny thing about the MB is that the carry is a couple of yards longer.

Yeah, it's a couple years longer just because it's a slightly lower launching in the MB. Probably slightly higher CG, which makes some sense because the cavity is not cut out of the middle, but just slightly lower launching and slightly less spinning in the MB and that's actually one of the storylines with these two irons to get there is they've got progressive CG, which right.

You know, everyone on it does nowadays. Yeah. But it's just definitely something to note. You know you want to flight your four on higher and you want to, you know, hit a nice penetrating wedge. I mean these are obviously for good players right. They have some speed. You know me at 80 miles an hour with a six iron or seven iron.

You know there's probably not going to be a club I'm going to play. But yeah you got some more speed and stuff. certainly. And you can kind of blend those two. you know, if you do tend to hit a little low, obviously you're going to want to go with the CBs all the way through. You know, just get a little more height and spin.

but a lot of people at higher speeds, you know, struggle with spin and controlling it. So good golf club for that. You get a few hundred RPMs out of the head, and then you don't need to have a crazy shaft in it to try and knock it down. Or you can do both obviously. Yeah and some people will. Um and what I would like to note is that the heel shot in both the MB and the CB, if you look at this here and obviously we're only a quarter inch off center.

Right. But it performed so so good. Look at the the brown dot there on the MB and the brown dot there on the CB. It's not bad. It's awesome. Yeah. For a heel shot that's that's usually the I mean you talk about a low heel and some of the, some of the calculated media actually throw that number out because it's so bad on some clubs.

Yeah. Especially blades I mean you don't expect a lot of tour players or better players to hit it in the low heel. but this one's pretty good everywhere.
